Youth Believing in Change (YBC) began in 1994 with a violence
prevention curriculum at Franklin Middle School in Dallas. With pizza, a
bunch of Dr. Seuss books and an open Bible, Vincent Gaddis began
meeting with children and families at parks, churches, and apartments.
In the 25 years that have followed, Vincent, alongside dedicated staff
and trusted volunteers have grown an organization that is changing
lives and transforming communities.
YBC’s mission is to give children the spiritual and educational
foundation they need to succeed. Up to 200 children board YBC buses
each day and participate in our after-school program.
Every day, YBC serves as a consistent place of refuge for children who
often see and experience life’s difficulties at a young age. Some walk
through the doors not knowing where their next meal is coming from.
Others leave to go spend the night at a hotel or at home with siblings
while their parents are at work.
YBC is a very special place, nurturing the hearts of children while
developing their minds. And while bringing all of life’s challenges with
them, you would hardly know it by the smiles on their faces.
